Californails January Nail Art Challenge 2014: Fresh Ocean Breeze

Hey everyone! So one of my new year's resolutions is to do more nail art and more nail tutorials so you guys can join in with me. Here is one for January 2014 hosted by the talented Californails. Today's design was with the theme FRESH so I created my design with what came to mind as fresh, the ocean breeze and this is my interpretation of that. It's basically a teal to white stripe gradient.

The main color used is Rimmel London Marine Blue nail polish; 2 coats as the base. It's a soft shimmery teal blue.
Other than that I used a teal and white acrylic paints from Apple Barrel and mixed them together from pure teal to pure white to create variations of the teal for the striper gradient. The rest is pretty simple; you just use your striper brush and light motions to add strokes from dark to light but just a little bit lower for each shade.

Here is the pictorial to help you understand what I did. You can add any amount of shades of your color for the gradient but must have at least 3 for good contrast of light to dark.

For those of you wanting to join in the challenge, here is the original poster with all the dates and theme. Stay tuned for my next challenge: Sparkles.

Revlon Sculpting Blush Palette in Pink

Maybe I chose the wrong colour for my skin-tone but there are so many other things about this palette that makes me think I should have bought some more lip butters instead. Let’s start with what I do love about the palette. It’s simple black compact that has the same sleek look as the other Revlon photo-ready items. I find a highlighter, contour shade and blush in one palette is a great idea too. Having more blush colour in terms of quantity with smaller sections for the highlighter and contour makes perfect sense since I will use more of the blush anyway. The colours as they appear in the pan look perfectly coordinated to work with each other. You get a small brush with soft bristles in your kit to ensure you can just pop this in your bag and you’re off.  In the sunlight Now here is where it all goes downhill like Jack and Jill with their pail of water. Let’s start with the swatches which made me think twic

Marble Hearts: BCD Nail Art Challenge (Day 13)

Today's challenge utilizes the technique of dry water marbling to create your pattern. I'm doing a twist of it but doing a needle drag i.e using a needle or any fine point for just a smidgen of swirl to the colours used.
