Busy Girl Nails Fall 2013 Challenge Week 3: Golden OxBlood Chevrons

Oh wow! I didn't realize how much I would love this color! This rich oxblood red from Orly is called Smolder and is from their fall 2012 collection. I've combine it simply with gold chevron tips for an elegant and fall inspired design.

Let's just take a moment to gaze at the beauty of Orly Smolder, such rich colour in two coats.

Get the look:
1. Apply your two coats of Orly Smolder. Seal in with a fast drying top coat. This will make any mistakes with your acrylic paints easier for clean up.
2. Using a striper brush create a chevron tip using gold acrylic paint
3. Go over the chevron with a sparkling gold acrylic paint.
4. Smoothen with a fast drying top coat

Join in on this fall nail challenge by posting your nail designs on instagram or on your blog using the hashtag #BusyGirlNails and tagging the girls hosting this challenge: @drinkcitra, @BeautyByArielle, @fiercemakeupandnails, @mirandasmakeup and @marijonails :)

I find a highlighter, contour shade and blush in one palette is a great idea too. Having more blush colour in terms of quantity with smaller sections for the highlighter and contour makes perfect sense since I will use more of the blush anyway. The colours as they appear in the pan look perfectly coordinated to work with each other. You get a small brush with soft bristles in your kit to ensure you can just pop this in your bag and you’re off.  In the sunlight Now here is where it all goes downhill like Jack and Jill with their pail of water. Today's challenge utilizes the technique of dry water marbling to create your pattern. I'm doing a twist of it but doing a needle drag i.e using a needle or any fine point for just a smidgen of swirl to the colours used.
