Inspired by Carmen Marc Valvo for NYFW Spring 2014: Black & White Stripe Out

Hello beautiful! Do you remember my last set of fashion week inspired nail art? Fashion remains one of my many sources of inspiration for nail art. I am always overwhelmed by the designs, colors and fabric. Today's design is inspired by Carmen Marc Valvo and the collection produced for New York Fashion Week Spring 2014. This piece is modern yet edgy with the complementary hair cut and style pulling the entire look together. Here is my take of this gorgeous dress represented in my nail art.

Dress Source
Tutorial:
  1. Apply two coats of a white polish: L.A Colors Energy Source
  2. Take the sharpness off this white by using one coat of an off white sheer polish: Sally Hansen Polar Bare. The bright white provides the opaque base but the off white takes the edge off the color.
  3. Using black acrylic paint and a small detailing brush, draw horizontal lines to mimic the design on the dress. Add smaller vertical lines.
  4. For the accent nail, use the collar of the dress as your inspiration
  5. Complete with a top coat to smoothen out your design and add a matte finish: NYC Matte Me Crazy.

Maybe I chose the wrong colour for my skin-tone but there are so many other things about this palette that makes me think I should have bought some more lip butters instead. Let’s start with what I do love about the palette. It’s simple black compact that has the same sleek look as the other Revlon photo-ready items. I find a highlighter, contour shade and blush in one palette is a great idea too. Having more blush colour in terms of quantity with smaller sections for the highlighter and contour makes perfect sense since I will use more of the blush anyway. The colours as they appear in the pan look perfectly coordinated to work with each other. You get a small brush with soft bristles in your kit to ensure you can just pop this in your bag and you’re off.  In the sunlight Now here is where it all goes downhill like Jack and Jill with their pail of water. Let’s start with the swatches which made me think twic

Marble Hearts: BCD Nail Art Challenge (Day 13)

Today's challenge utilizes the technique of dry water marbling to create your pattern. I'm doing a twist of it but doing a needle drag i.e using a needle or any fine point for just a smidgen of swirl to the colours used.
