Holiday Poinsettia

Happy Holidays Beautiful! I’m super excited to share with you my first post featuring the nails, makeup and hair for my holiday poinsettia look. Every year around this time we see the Christmas colours of red and green all around us but I am most intrigued by these colours as they appear on the poinsettia plants that are so common around this time.

Get the Hair:
I was first introduced to flexible rods by a local chica, Island Bellas who did a recent review and I was intrigued to try them for myself. I got myself 6 pieces of 10" flexible rods in one pack by Brittny Professional, diameter of 1/2". Since my hair is thin and medium length all 6 were enough to set all my hair.

1. Basically I just separated the hair into 6 equal portions, 3 on either side of my middle part. (First two pics below)
2. I used these as if they were long curlers, rolling from the end of my hair all the way up and once you reach near the scalp you simple twist the end of the rods back on itself to secure them into place.
3. Repeat with the rest of rods. The entire setting of the rods into my hair took no more than 10 minutes! Easy!

Depending on how to remove the rods, you can get different effects. I pulled them out longways and so I got these barrel curls but run your fingers through your hair a bit to reveal soft waves.

Get the Nails:
I was super excited to receive as my Christmas present the entire Cirque du Soleil China Glaze collection! What better way to start using them than these simple red and green gradient nails.

Running in Circles and Igniting Love
1. Start off with your favourite base coat and then add two coats of green goblin goodness of China Glaze Running in Circles.
2. Allow to dry fully and then sponge on a red crème called Igniting Love also from China Glaze. Go about halfway up the nail with your sponging.
3. Allow to dry fully and then using a sparkly red, my favourite is the classic China Glaze Ruby Pumps. Sponge this red on to the tips only.
4. Apply your favourite top coat and voila!

Revlon Sculpting Blush Palette in Pink

I have never been so disappointed in a Revlon product before… until now! Maybe I chose the wrong colour for my skin-tone but there are so many other things about this palette that makes me think I should have bought some more lip butters instead. Let’s start with what I do love about the palette. It’s simple black compact that has the same sleek look as the other Revlon photo-ready items. I find a highlighter, contour shade and blush in one palette is a great idea too. Having more blush colour in terms of quantity with smaller sections for the highlighter and contour makes perfect sense since I will use more of the blush anyway. The colours as they appear in the pan look perfectly coordinated to work with each other. You get a small brush with soft bristles in your kit to ensure you can just pop this in your bag and you’re off.  In the sunlight Now here is where it all goes downhill like Jack and Jill with their pail of water. Let’s start with the swatches which made me think twic

Marble Hearts: BCD Nail Art Challenge (Day 13)

Today's challenge utilizes the technique of dry water marbling to create your pattern. I'm doing a twist of it but doing a needle drag i.e using a needle or any fine point for just a smidgen of swirl to the colours used.
