What’s in My Makeup Bag! All About the Eyes

Did you see my face and lip products? Well go back and see them now. But in case you did already, here is the rest of what’s in my makeup bag, the eye products. I love the saying that the eyes are the windows to your soul. At one point in time I was really disappointed that my eyes were small but I’ve since grown to love them immensely.

So what I usually do is choose some fun pops of colour along with a neutral palette. My favourite neutral palette at the moment is the Coastal Scents Go Palette Cairo. It contains both matte and shimmery colours perfect for a simple smoky brown eye look to a glamorous night out. My favourite colours are the skintone mattes and shimmery gold, which really makes my brown eyes pop. Some of these colours I have already hit pan with but the white and silver usually are neglected.

Do you want some colour? Strangely enough, I didn’t put any of my MAC eyeshadows in my makeup bag recently. I’ve been really enjoying these three local eyeshadows made right here in Trinidad. Sacha Cosmetics makes this gorgeous dark blue with glitter shadow called Medianoche. I usually use this colour for a dark blue smoky eye.
Ambrosia Cosmetics make this almost chartreuse green called Isis. When I’m feeling adventurous, I pack this on as a lid colour with some matte brown in the crease.
Did you know that purple is one of my favourite colours? Well lilac is as well and this soft lilac, almost lavender colour from Playgirl Cosmetics is a dream. It’s a perfect summer colour.

Let’s complete the eyes together! After applying shadow, the look needs to be completed with mascara and liner. Lately just the basic black mascara works for me; Maybelline Great Lash in Very black . For eyeliner, I decided to move away from the harsh black for a while to enjoy the great alternative of a charcoal (Jordana Easyliner for eyes in Smokey) and brown (Avon Glimmersticks in Brown Chocolate).

For my sometimes wayward brows, Maybelline Define-a-brow gel comes in handy and Ruby Kisses eyeshadow primer with its pink look a like packaging to the Urban Decay primer potion is what starts off the eye look for the day. So that completes my makeup bag! Whew!
What’s in your makeup bag? And what are your favourite eye products lately?
Happy Eye Makeup!
XOXO

Coffee Date Night with Bae

There are some simple pleasures in life that I enjoy. Coffee is one of them and a good lipgloss. Today I can have both of them together while we go for a date with bae! Sacha Cosmetics has blown me away with their new intense lipshine glosses and awesome names. I love when companies try to just be real with their customers even in these small details.

Let’s Go to Work with MAC Melba Blush

My work place is pretty open to makeup but I would definitely prefer to keep a simple office type look while there and maybe on casual Fridays for work and on the weekends have a separate look. What I realized when scanning though my makeup stash was that most of my blushes were way too loud for the office so what better excuse to use to hop down to my favourite MAC store. :)
Now just to mention it, don’t try attempting to get quick service on a Friday or Saturday at the MAC store. It’s usually super busy. The MAC makeup artists are always so helpful though but you may require a bit of patience. But patience I had that day which led me to my beloved Melba blush.  I just needed the colour to suit my NC 45 skintone, be a powder blush for simple application and be matte, not shimmery. We did try out Fleur Power first, which is a soft pinky coral colour but I still felt it was a tad too bright. Melba however was a soft, coral peach colour and look really great on me when she applied with h…

Hot Milk Sponge Cake with Fresh Fruit & Coconut

In today's yummy post we are doing an easy sponge cake (no creaming of butter and sugar involved). Instead of torting this cake we are using two loaf pans to give us our two layers, which we will pull together with vanilla buttercream. I love the rectangular look of this cake rather than the traditional round or square but more importantly the flavors of the toasted coconut on the sides and fresh fruit on top makes for a mouth watering dessert.
