T&T Hair & Beauty Tradeshow 2012

I hope you had a great weekend! I certainly did with this year’s Hair & Beauty Tradeshow. The theme for this year was Beautiful Woman 2012. A few tips for tradeshows like these, if you can get a layout of the room and who will be at each booth, that way you can narrow down where you want to see first and develop you own strategy for working the room. Getting there early helps with parking and grabbing some for the earlier goodies if you are up for shopping.

Happy Friday Volume#11

Who doesn’t love a Friday? It’s the start to the weekend where we beauty lovers can get some more time to indulge in our stashes of beauty items. More so we get maybe some time for ourselves to just do nothing much or something extravagant! It’s also a time for me to share more about me to you that may or may not be beauty related. Feel free to share what you will be up to this weekend. Happy Friday! Beauty Adventure? In my school days when I was stressed over assignments and projects I would take a break by indulging in chocolate and anything sweet to unwind. Now that I'm all grown up and the pressures of the working world and unbearable traffic are my new stress triggers, this girl does some shopping! Good for de-stressing, no so good on the wallet. So yes I indulged in the new Maybelline Tattoo and Loreal Infallible eyeshadows . But another part of my unwind session involves swatching colours just to see how pretty they are! Acquired from the beauty blogger in me. These

Maybelline Color Tattoo and Loreal Infallible Eyeshadows! Plus More!!!

I can go for weeks, maybe a month without buying new makeup. I have that discipline but all that goes to south (I’m a north girl) when new products come out to play and particularly when I was literally stalking the stores to see if there was a sighting of the new Maybelline color tattoos. Come back next month. Ask me again in two weeks time. These were the comments I kept getting but finally there are here and what better way to celebrate their arrival by going nuts and buying their showcase neighbours as well, the Loreal infallible eye-shadows. I love Pennywise!

Bellezza Journey

When I first started this blog, about 8 months ago, I did it with the intention to provide more information to beauty lovers here in my home country of Trinidad & Tobago and maybe the Caribbean at large. But now I love meeting new persons from all over the world. It always amazes me when I get an email or comment from anyone. Another reason for starting my blog was Temptalia . I stumbled on her website about a year ago and was indeed impressed at her dedication to her blog with providing her audience with in-depth reviews. I am nowhere near her about 5-6 blog posts a day but she gives me inspiration to reach for the stars.

Delicate Nail Art

Ever saw an eye-catching design that you just couldn’t get out of your head? If you haven’t joined the Beautylish community, you should… now! This nail design was inspired by a beautylish babe called Tereska H. Check here for her design. I took the concept of her design and used red and pink colours in mine instead of her original blue and white. My pink swirls are also a bit tighter and packer more into my nails than hers, but you get the idea!

Confetti Tips

Blame it on my nieces again! I find inspiration in them all the time and for the last birthday party we had, well we couldn’t help but get some confetti to make it so much fun. The cleanup of it is another story!

Last Night!

Hello beautiful! So since I was wearing a lot of bright eye colours lately I thought I would throw in a more neutral eye (wink wink) for you and pair it with a bright lip instead. When you feel like going out at night, you still want to feel beautiful and this is a quick and easy way to add some drama to the night!  In case you wondering, my T-shirt says : Go Plant a Tree”

Refining with Estee Lauder

I’ve been a bad girl! Honestly since God blessed me with pretty decent skin I have not been its best caretaker. It was only a few months ago that I started with the CTM (cleansing, toning and moisturising) using the Artistry trio . Since I’ve been using more makeup lately (can you hear the BF going, you don’t need that!...Men!) I’ve been noticing some fine lines under the eyes but most annoying to me are those pores around the nose! Arggggg! And they seem to look like craters when the foundation and concealer is applied.

Speckled Water Coloured Nails

I need to get the phone number to Sherlock Holmes please! It seems like every day another item from my nail supplies goes missing. Sometimes they return right back to the scene where there were last spotted or not at all. The case of the missing acetone, that’s what I need him to solve!

Happy Friday! Volume#10

I'm still on vacation and no vacation for me would be complete without some shopping! Being a makeup hoarder means I neglected the other aspects of myself. My face and skin care was very minimal and since I am getting older I can see some fine lines appearing and huge pores staring at me. What's a girl to do but go to the nearest Estee Lauder store and find some things to help me out! I'll let you know how they work!

Velvet Teddy Lips

Does the name sound familiar? It’s MAC’s matte lipstick in Velvet Teddy. The name invokes images of cute teddy bears with their soft fur. How did I end up here! Anyway so after trying numerous bright coloured lippies I wanted another nude shade. What I love about the MAC experience is that there is something for everyone and if you are willing to spend time doing swatches you can find the right one for you. This shade was chosen after trying on Twig, Cherish and some more. Anybody knows how many permanent MAC lipsticks there are?

Just Bitten

You guessed it! I’m on a short vacation and just wanted to relax with the makeup looks a bit. So this time I tried the popular cat eye and instead of doing a nude lip, made it sultrier by adding a dark lip stain. The Revlon Just Bitten lip stain and balm helped me achieve this look. This is my first lipstain that I had for a long time but when I initially got it, it wasn’t the colour I had hoped it was so it got pushed away until my recent spring cleaning .  The colour I’m wearing here is called Lust. It’s a dark brown that can go on sheer with one swipe but you can pack on the drama with a few more. The tip of the pen is like a fat marker but it gives you a precise application. The balm is not sticky as a lip gloss but gives you a nice sheen on top of the stain if you like. I’m wearing just the stain in this picture.  The colour lasts a while, though I feel as a stain it does wear off a bit too soon for me. Since I’m on vacation I didn’t mind reapplying. Oh well I’m off t

Soft Lily

Trying to beat the traffic and with work being about 1.5 hours away from my home means that usually I leave home when it is still dark and return when the sun is going down. This weekend I actually had time to remember what the outside of the house looked like in sunlight and I rediscovered this beautiful lily that was growing right outside the front door! Before I could take some pictures, the rabbit got to them first! Haha. I'll show you when some more bloom. Eitherway the main colour is orange with yellow on the inside and gorgeous green leaves. This look is inspired by the lily but instead of using such vibrant shades I keep the colours soft.

Colourful Easter Nails

If you want to maintain the best aunt of the year award, never promise to do easter nails to cute-face 3 and 8 year old girls and have no intention to follow through with it. They will be disappointed. And just in case you run out of time or ideas for your easter nail art just go simple with a different pastel shade per nail and add loads of dots. Simple and effective!

Happy Friday! Volume#9

I have been trying to control myself from buying too much makeup lately and I have succeeded. I can actually go into the MAC store and not buy one item. Success on my part! But do makeup brushes count as makeup. Not in my book so these new Real techniques brushes were justified right? So far they all feel really soft with the taklon bristles and the starter kit comes with this super fun case that can fold as a stand. I added a stippling brush and powder brush to the mix and the case had two slots for them. Together they all fit nicely in the case which is s

Navy Blue Eye Revolution

I’m joining the revolution! Navy blue eyes are one of the latest trends around and I wanted to join in that trend. I made it into a smoky eye look which goes great for my Asian eyes but didn’t want it all dark so added a bright pop of turquoise blue to the lower lashline.

Flower Fields

So did you like my tribal nails ? Or maybe you preferred my pink pastel ones?  Well if not give me another chance with my flower fields nails. Inspired by my nieces again! At only 8 years old, Abi is very creative and she constantly wants to do more designs with me on the weekend. We bond over these things. Did I mention she loves pink? A girl after my own heart! She insisted my next nail design had to have pink and since I have been into plants lately, well here’s what we did.  It’s a very simple design and if you want to try it, stay tuned!

Feel the Summer Breeze, a NYX Matte Lipstick

It’s always summer or sunny I should say living in the Caribbean! When I make a trip to the beach I prefer to go there with the car windows down so you can feel the cool sea breeze as you are nearing the beach. But back at the concrete jungle you can simple have that in the form of a NYX Matte lipstick called Summer Breeze.  So how can we describe this colour? I think we can call it pepto pink or Barbie pink. It would fit greatly into those descriptions. The lipstick itself is like most matte ones where it is not moisturizing on the lips so you need to wear a touch of lip balm underneath. However, it has great pigmentation and decent staying power.  Now does anybody have MAC’s Pink Noveau? NYX Summer Breeze looks pretty close right? And if it is, well then it was be a pretty inexpensive alternative to that!  Happy Summer Breeze! XOXO Naomi
