Natural Beauty of the Emperor Valley Zoo

I can’t tell you when the last time I visited the Emperor Valley Zoo was but making a trip now was a good experience for my two nieces. Kids loves animals and so do I. I’m a sucker for cute puppy dog eyes or like those of the Puss from the Puss in Boots movie I watched with them recently. With the zoo being recently renovated and I hearing mixed reviews I decided to check it out for myself. I was being a kid again.
In case you are going for the first time, you have a small entrance fee of $20TT for adults and $10TT for children. There is a secured parking area that you pay $6TT per hour or $40TT per day. For us to see everything took us about 2 hours.
Let’s start off with my favourite part of this zoo; the birds. They are so exotic and colourful. I can see them inspiring some future nail art and makeup looks. My favourite birds here are our national bird, the scarlet ibis with its rich red feathers. You know I’m not afraid to wear red. It’s such a pity the MAC Iris Apfel collection didn’t arrive here in Trinidad. I was really hoping to get the Scarlet Ibis lipstick. L And let’s talk about the flamingos shall we. The pink feathers were striking. I love the enclosure that they were in; it looked like they were right at home.
Scarlet Macaws- So colourful!
My next favourite part of this zoo was the otter enclosure. I have always loved seeing the otter show off himself and he gave me a hard time trying to capture him on camera. This part of the zoo is renovated such that you can see him from above or looking through the water. So pretty!
What always fascinated the kids are the big, bad, scary snakes at the reptile house. Lots of them here and if you are lucky enough you may have a guide who lets certain ones out. Would you care to touch one? Not me!
And you must go see the fishes. I just love the beautiful colours and the calming effect of them gently swimming around.
Tiger Oscar
Iridescent Shark
Overall I had a great time with my two kiddies and seeing a place like this through the eyes of a child makes the experience even more wonderful than how I remembered the place when I was last here. Do visit some time and let me know what you loved!
Happy Zoo Day!
XOXO
Naomi

I Found You NYX Cosmetics

He thought he could hide from me forever, but boy was he mistaken! The mighty NYX cosmetics booth that was hiding in Long Circular Mall, Trinidad got trapped by a skillful makeup addict! Me!!!! How could he have avoided me for almost 2 years? Being a northeast girl means venturing into POS and environs is only when I really have to. I hadn’t visited this Mall in about 2 years which was the timeframe given to me as to how long this booth has been in the mall.
Now give me some great customer service will you! Yes please and yes that is what I got here! In addition, you don’t have to wait 6 months before recently launched items from NYX cosmetics are available. These people have it down when it comes to ensuring all the new and existing items are there for you! Everything I asked for was available to me to buy! And Yes I got some goodies! How could I not? I have been in a blush craze lately so why not try my first blush from NYX, Desert Rose. The new xtreme lip creams were available so I…

Hot Milk Sponge Cake with Fresh Fruit & Coconut

In today's yummy post we are doing an easy sponge cake (no creaming of butter and sugar involved). Instead of torting this cake we are using two loaf pans to give us our two layers, which we will pull together with vanilla buttercream. I love the rectangular look of this cake rather than the traditional round or square but more importantly the flavors of the toasted coconut on the sides and fresh fruit on top makes for a mouth watering dessert.
