Happy Friday! Volume#8

Who doesn’t love a Friday? It’s the start to the weekend where we beauty lovers can get some more time to indulge in our stashes of beauty items. More so we get maybe some time for ourselves to just do nothing much or something extravagant! It’s also a time for me to share more about me to you that may or may not be beauty related. Feel free to share what you will be up to this weekend. Happy Friday!

Beauty Adventure? Spring Cleaning! Well in the Caribbean we just have two seasons, a wet and dry. No spring season really but the term is still used and I had to use it this week. There were makeup and nail polish stashes all over the house! The men folk in my life were not impressed. On top of that I am a hoarder, not just of makeup but of packages. I hate throwing away the original boxes but they just had to go since these simple things were taking up way too much space.
So step one was to gathering all the things from all the nooks and crannies they were put in. I recruited my two nieces and made them pretend we were on a treasure hunt for golden makeup treasure!
Next I organised the one big stash into smaller piles according to type. So one stash for lipsticks, one for eyeliners, one for face products and so on.
Discard old, expired items and good, unwanted colours I happily gave to my nieces to play dress up. Their mother was not amused but I was trying to play my part as the loving, generous aunt! Just doing my job right?
Get myself some organisers. I got a 24 lipstick organiser and 3 tier almost clear drawer from Amazon. Some simple holders for longer items, worst case use some vases or tall glasses. I still left the boxes for the MAC lipsticks since they can’t be store upside down and I wanted to see the name of the lipstick to identify the colour.
I feel much better now that I have everything organised. It’s much easier to find things and make better decisions for an overall look. On a positive side, I thought I had way more makeup that this and so you can now find me at the nearest makeup watering hole to quench my thirst for more.

Plans for the weekend? I’m super excited to go see the Hunger Games! I’m halfway through the Mockingjay (third book in the series) and so far I’m totally hooked. I also want to do some shopping around for more makeup organisers available locally. I’m still on my organisational beat! Still need to find a better way to store my loose eye-shadows.

Something about me? This year I want to branch out from using the same makeup brands I have and try some new ones. So far, I have ventured into the land of NARS but I’m thinking to expand that to Inglot, Urban Decay, TooFaced, The Balm, Bobbi Brown and Sleek Makeup! Any other suggestions? What are your favourite makeup brands? Share!!!!!
Happy Friday!
XOXO

Coffee Date Night with Bae

There are some simple pleasures in life that I enjoy. Coffee is one of them and a good lipgloss. Today I can have both of them together while we go for a date with bae! Sacha Cosmetics has blown me away with their new intense lipshine glosses and awesome names. I love when companies try to just be real with their customers even in these small details.

Let’s Go to Work with MAC Melba Blush

My work place is pretty open to makeup but I would definitely prefer to keep a simple office type look while there and maybe on casual Fridays for work and on the weekends have a separate look. What I realized when scanning though my makeup stash was that most of my blushes were way too loud for the office so what better excuse to use to hop down to my favourite MAC store. :)
Now just to mention it, don’t try attempting to get quick service on a Friday or Saturday at the MAC store. It’s usually super busy. The MAC makeup artists are always so helpful though but you may require a bit of patience. But patience I had that day which led me to my beloved Melba blush.  I just needed the colour to suit my NC 45 skintone, be a powder blush for simple application and be matte, not shimmery. We did try out Fleur Power first, which is a soft pinky coral colour but I still felt it was a tad too bright. Melba however was a soft, coral peach colour and look really great on me when she applied with h…

Hot Milk Sponge Cake with Fresh Fruit & Coconut

In today's yummy post we are doing an easy sponge cake (no creaming of butter and sugar involved). Instead of torting this cake we are using two loaf pans to give us our two layers, which we will pull together with vanilla buttercream. I love the rectangular look of this cake rather than the traditional round or square but more importantly the flavors of the toasted coconut on the sides and fresh fruit on top makes for a mouth watering dessert.
