Simple, Smoky Brown Eyes

When in doubt choose brown! That’s my punch line for when I want to be safe and subtle with my eye makeup. The fact that I have a lot of brown clothing and shoes doesn’t help much either. This was a simple look I created for a day full of shopping. I did add a bit of drama with my winged out liner and strong brows!  Face Sacha cream to powder foundation in Perfect Caramel L’Oreal Translucide loose powder in medium CaraMia Blush in Fawn Lips MAC Hug Me Lipstick Eyes Coastal Scents Go Cairo Palette Revlon Colorstay Liquid eye pen in Black MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara Milani Liquif’eye Black eyeliner Do you love smoky eyes? I certainly do as well as for the colour brown. Happy Brown Day! XOXO Naomi

Buttery Lips with NYX Xtreme Lip Creams

Why would anyone make a lip product that smells like butter? Maybe one day the NYX creators of the recently launched NYX Xtreme lip creams will reveal their secret. But for now one just has to bear with the scent for a short while before it fades.  So these come in 11 colours but I just fancied these two; Natural and Candy land. Can you tell I love pink? These are really pigmented and smooth, glides onto the lips like ….butter! They give you a nice shine so no need to wear gloss. The only issue I have with these is that they applied a bit streaky on the lips, think of a streaky nail polish where you need two coats. But applying two coats made it a bit messy. So stick with a thin coat first and then apply another to touch up the bald spots! I felt I needed a natural lip liner with these though. Call these a liquid lipstick in a lip gloss tube with doe foot applicator.  So more about these two colours! Natural is a well a natural colour, soft pink while Candy Land is like a Barbie pink.

Lining and Defining with Revlon Colorstay Crème Gel Eyeliner & Photoready 3D Volume Mascara

New products from Revlon yeah! These are two of my favourite new ones and are great for beginners like me.  Let’s first explore Revlon’s Colorstay crème gel eyeliner in black. It’s smooth, creamy and glides on with easy. I don’t particularly think it is super black but pigmented enough after a few passes. I love the packaging with a very useful brush to line with. While you can make a thin line with it, this is a bit difficult to do but the brush makes an excellent thick line for those cat eye dramatic looks. The only thing about this is that the pot is really small, which might actually be a positive if you want to try some other colours. I don’t think I would be able to use it up soon though. I will report back if I do.  Do you want some eye looks now? OK! I give you the dramatic winged out eye liner using Revlon crème gel eyeliner in black.  Ding Round Two! Introducing Revlon Photoready 3D volume mascara. This bad boy is armed with a magnificent brush with rubberized spikes even at

Let’s Go to Work with MAC Melba Blush

My work place is pretty open to makeup but I would definitely prefer to keep a simple office type look while there and maybe on casual Fridays for work and on the weekends have a separate look. What I realized when scanning though my makeup stash was that most of my blushes were way too loud for the office so what better excuse to use to hop down to my favourite MAC store. :) Now just to mention it, don’t try attempting to get quick service on a Friday or Saturday at the MAC store. It’s usually super busy. The MAC makeup artists are always so helpful though but you may require a bit of patience. But patience I had that day which led me to my beloved Melba blush.  I just needed the colour to suit my NC 45 skintone, be a powder blush for simple application and be matte, not shimmery. We did try out Fleur Power first, which is a soft pinky coral colour but I still felt it was a tad too bright. Melba however was a soft, coral peach colour and look really great on me when she applied with

Barbie Pink & Mermaid Green: Nicki Minaj Inspired Look

Pink baby! Yes I love my pink but I do love my bold colours too! Nicki Minaj is Trinidadian and maybe that’s why she is not afraid to wear bold bright colours. I was looking at one of her pictures with her OPI nail polish collection and thought it would be super fun to incorporate her bold Barbie pink lips with mint green eye colour. I’m not good with false eye lashes yet but that would have certainly sealed off this inspired look.  With OPI Pink Friday on my Nails! Eyes Ambrosia Cosmetics Creative Colours: Mermaid Tale (Matte blue green) Atlantic Star (Matte medium blue) Havana Cream (Matte peachy brown) NYX Liquid liner with grow lash serum- Jet black Revlon photoready 3D mascara MAC Fluidline in Midnight Blues   The eyes are very simple really. The mermaid colour is all over the lid and just slight above it, blended out with a skin tone colour (peachy brown) all the way up to the brow bone. The blue goes all the way under the lash line and out mimicking the cat eyeliner just l

Happy Friday! Volume #4

Who doesn’t love a Friday? It’s the start to the weekend where we beauty lovers can get some more time to indulge in our stashes of beauty items. More so we get maybe some time for ourselves to just do nothing much or something extravagant! It’s also a time for me to share more about me to you that may or may not be beauty related. Feel free to share what you will be up to this weekend. Happy Friday! So for today’s post I plan to answer some questions posed to me by the beautiful Mia. Go check out her blog ! She’s Trinidadian too!  What made you start blogging? Living in Trinidad & Tobago is amazing! But there were very little beauty blogs available to inform me of what items exists, where to get them here or on new collections being released etc. I thought I would share my discoveries with my people but also to share any of my beauty encounters with anyone willing to listen. I also love to travel and shop and would love to share those beauty encounters with you. Check my Abou

Finding Immortelle Beauty

Let’s discover the foundation of youth shall we! Well the search for that still continues and in the meantime we can have immortelle beauty. While at the Chez Nous last weekend, I was delighted to meet the creator of the Immortelle Beauty products, Kathryn Nurse. She was proudly wearing the Go Local badge on her soft white shirt.  I first tried just the smallest amount of the foot lotion on my hands. Yes I know it was foot lotion but well I wanted to try anyway. Boy was I amazed! This left my hands moisturized for the rest of the day! Seriously! For the hand and body lotions, the smells were tantalizing. These come in fresh citrus, plum and cranberry! You can also get these as scrubs and body wash.  After trying out these lovelies I was more than compelled to not leave here without some goodies. If you want to take the plunge into the land of immortelle beauty try checking out their website or facebook page. She is hoping to expand her line of products soon. I can’t wait to see what

I Found You NYX Cosmetics

He thought he could hide from me forever, but boy was he mistaken! The mighty NYX cosmetics booth that was hiding in Long Circular Mall, Trinidad got trapped by a skillful makeup addict! Me!!!! How could he have avoided me for almost 2 years? Being a northeast girl means venturing into POS and environs is only when I really have to. I hadn’t visited this Mall in about 2 years which was the timeframe given to me as to how long this booth has been in the mall.  Now give me some great customer service will you! Yes please and yes that is what I got here! In addition, you don’t have to wait 6 months before recently launched items from NYX cosmetics are available. These people have it down when it comes to ensuring all the new and existing items are there for you! Everything I asked for was available to me to buy! And Yes I got some goodies! How could I not? I have been in a blush craze lately so why not try my first blush from NYX, Desert Rose. The new xtreme lip creams were available so

Nicki Minaj OPI Pink Friday Nails

You know how much I love my polish. OPI is one of those brands that were once very difficult to locate locally here in Trinidad but not anymore, thanks to Farida’s in Westmall. They recently started carrying the OPI line in their store. They also carry the SpaRitual polishes. So being up with the more recent OPI collections, it the Nicki Minaj 6 piece collection, which is based on her personal style. I being a pink girl myself just decided on the Pink Friday colour which is a barbie pink crème colour. Now because I was thinking about Nicki and her love for bright pinks I thought this colour would be like that too but it’s not. In the bottle, it appears just a tad bit lighter than what two coats of polish would show up to be. I think it’s a bright but wearable pink. I do feel like Barbie now. Where's my Ken? In the shade In the sunlight I feel like I need to go try some crazy nicki minaj type makeup now and maybe a blonde wig! Do you like Barbie pink crème polishes? Happy Pin

Handpicked NARS Mexican Rose makes me Blush with Gaiety

I was so excited to receive my first two items from NARS via the wonderful world that is Amazon. These two items are from the NARS Spring 2012 collection; meet NARS Mexican Rose Lip pencil and Gaiety Blush. Two words: Simple stunning! These two need to remain the star of this show…. I mean face. So I kept the eye-shadow simple, just some MAC Woodwinked and black liner/ mascara.  Mexican rose is a medium pink lipstick in a pencil form but glides on like a gloss packed with pigment. Can you see the sheen on this baby? I really didn’t feel like this was a lipstick on my lips. It’s very unique like a cross between lipstick and gloss, reminds me a lot of MAC sheen supreme lipsticks, just that it remained on the lips a bit longer and maybe not so shiny. The colour on first swipe is soft but you can add on more colour if you like, and I liked.  NARS Gaiety blush like the name suggests is cheerful. It’s a cool tone soft pink but I found I was still able to pull it off with my very warm skin t
