I’m Off to Cairo with Coastal Scents Go Palette

I love travelling around the world and every year for my holiday I try to visit somewhere new. But unless I win the lottery, strike oil or find a rich big daddy to support my travelling habits I may never get to visit the magnificent Cairo in Egypt. But a girl can hope!
So second to that comes the luxurious Coastal Scents Go Palette Cairo. If you have heard about Coastal Scents they are well known for their large palettes (think 88 colours minimum) but for a travelling girl like myself try fitting such a huge item into your already makeup ram-packed handbag!

Now the idea behind this palette is that the colours in it are more or less to represent the feel of the city. There are more of these designed with other cities in mind such as Sydney, Paris and Beijing.  So I guess they felt that Cairo had dark and earthy jewel tones colours to bring out an Arabic look.

So this mini-palette is really ideal for me, fits into my bag with ease.  It comes with 12 colours and is a mix of matte and shimmery eye-shadows. The top and second row contains the shimmery and glittery colours (with the exception of the white – it’s matte) while the last row to the bottom has all matte colours.
After using this for a while, I still love it but the colours are a bit limiting, lots of fall out with the shimmery colours and some of the matte ones especially the white is on the chalky side. As for pigmentation of the colours, you get a better payoff with the darker colours. The good thing for me though is that the medium brown matte colour is close to my skin tone and I can use this for a blending out colour when I want a non-shimmer highlight. The silver colour is really pigmented though!
So lots of pros and cons to consider, and yes I still have mixed feelings about it but heh it’s already in my makeup stash so why not use it! Overall it's a good neutral palette and makes a sultry smoky eye.
Hope you found this review helpful. Let me know if you will purchase Go Palette Cairo or just want to actually go there in person.
P.S. Available at www.coastalscents.com for US$ 8.95.
XOXO

Revlon Sculpting Blush Palette in Pink

I have never been so disappointed in a Revlon product before… until now! Maybe I chose the wrong colour for my skin-tone but there are so many other things about this palette that makes me think I should have bought some more lip butters instead. Let’s start with what I do love about the palette. It’s simple black compact that has the same sleek look as the other Revlon photo-ready items. I find a highlighter, contour shade and blush in one palette is a great idea too. Having more blush colour in terms of quantity with smaller sections for the highlighter and contour makes perfect sense since I will use more of the blush anyway. The colours as they appear in the pan look perfectly coordinated to work with each other. You get a small brush with soft bristles in your kit to ensure you can just pop this in your bag and you’re off.  In the sunlight Now here is where it all goes downhill like Jack and Jill with their pail of water. Let’s start with the swatches which made me think twic

Marble Hearts: BCD Nail Art Challenge (Day 13)

Today's challenge utilizes the technique of dry water marbling to create your pattern. I'm doing a twist of it but doing a needle drag i.e using a needle or any fine point for just a smidgen of swirl to the colours used.
