The Caribbean Nail and Beauty Trade Show 2011

What did you guys do this weekend? Well this was my first time attending the Caribbean Nail and Beauty Trade show, but this is its third year in action. This event was held at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya and I found out about it through their facebook page. As the name suggests this event is all about nails, makeup, hair and anything beauty related. So right up my alley! I got a few girlfriends and we just had to check this out.
What I love about an event like this is that it is centered on local suppliers and someone like me can be exposed to where to get things, new products and the latest trends. I felt though that there was way more booths related to nails that to the hair or cosmetics but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the event.

Speaking about nails, items on display were lots of additions for acrylics and ice nails, acrylic powders, the newer to the market gel nails and its system, nail polishes, nail art brushes and the list goes on.
What interested me was the famous Konad had its imitation sister at this event and from the demonstration they seem to work just as well as the real thing.
I also like the 3D nail art stick on thingies which come in stick forms and can be sliced thinly. My niece thought they were crayons.
Now onto beauty. There was an array of beauty brands such as Davinci Cosmetics, E.L.F, Maybelline, Victoria’s Secret, Avon, Coastal Scents and more.
There was one booth, Tres Belle Cosmetique that really focused on cosmetics and its tools. I loved the idea of the stackable eye-shadows that can also be mixed with the lip balm to create a lip colour. Really inventive!
As for the hair well there were lots of professional grade products such as Vitale Pro, KeraSylk and Keyano Aromatics. But what really caught my attention was the hair show and how skilled these hair dressers were in creating such intricate hair designs. Take a look at this one that looks like a domino.
Overall I had a great time at this event. I of course came away with some goodies at great prices and will surely go again next year. How did you spend your weekend? Hope you have fun too!

I Found You NYX Cosmetics

He thought he could hide from me forever, but boy was he mistaken! The mighty NYX cosmetics booth that was hiding in Long Circular Mall, Trinidad got trapped by a skillful makeup addict! Me!!!! How could he have avoided me for almost 2 years? Being a northeast girl means venturing into POS and environs is only when I really have to. I hadn’t visited this Mall in about 2 years which was the timeframe given to me as to how long this booth has been in the mall.
Now give me some great customer service will you! Yes please and yes that is what I got here! In addition, you don’t have to wait 6 months before recently launched items from NYX cosmetics are available. These people have it down when it comes to ensuring all the new and existing items are there for you! Everything I asked for was available to me to buy! And Yes I got some goodies! How could I not? I have been in a blush craze lately so why not try my first blush from NYX, Desert Rose. The new xtreme lip creams were available so I…

Hot Milk Sponge Cake with Fresh Fruit & Coconut

In today's yummy post we are doing an easy sponge cake (no creaming of butter and sugar involved). Instead of torting this cake we are using two loaf pans to give us our two layers, which we will pull together with vanilla buttercream. I love the rectangular look of this cake rather than the traditional round or square but more importantly the flavors of the toasted coconut on the sides and fresh fruit on top makes for a mouth watering dessert.
