Black Opal and Color Essence at the T&T Business Expo 2011

Beautiful dolls, hoping you had a great weekend! As usual I couldn’t stay home and ventured to check out the Trinidad and Tobago Business Expo 2011 which is now in its second year running and hosted by the International Caribbean Business Fair. Although I am a big online shopper I really do love supporting the local businesses and I have been finding that many of the items I usually buy online are slowly making its way at affordable prices to our shores.
Of course there were many booths with lots to see by my eyes zoned in on the beauty booths and for me the Black Opal booth screamed out for my attention. (Side note: I am wearing MAC’s Deliciously Forbidden Mattene Lipstick, LOVE!)
Black Opal is a brand that I didn’t really pay much attention to growing up but many a friend kept raving about their stick foundation. The one stand out item for me at the booth was the Papaya body butter, the smell was so exotic! Their mineral foundation is also a new item. Black Opal products can be found at our local beauty mecca, Pennywise and other stores nationwide.
Moving along now and my next stop was at the Nature’s essence booth. Their items are from India and they carry a wide array of skin, body and hair care items. I’m loving the Magic fruit extract range of products such as orange scrub, fruit gel face and hand wash and lemon pedi cleanser. So fruity!
Have you heard about Color Essence as yet? Well it’s a cosmetics line from India, with the punch line “Colour your spirit”. Items on display included their makeup remover, aqua makeup base, nail polishes, kajal, liquid lip colour, eyeshadows and so much more to make me go dizzy.

Don’t you just love the fact that as small a country as we are, international products are hitting our shores. We can try out new things. Be able to find new products to fall in love with. Local products will have to step up their standards. Maybe that wouldn’t be good for our wallets but it’s good to know we have options.
XOXO

  1. Would love to try Color Essence's liquid liner if they make one. I m on a apparently neverending search to get a good liquid liner. I just love how bollywood stars liner looks. I love black opal's foundation (one of my hg items), the creme one though never tried the stick. I heard it was oily. my sis is currently trying it though and in her opinion it sucks. Great post though!!

  2. Glad you liked the article! Not sure if they have a liquid liner but they do have that super black kajal pencil. I'll be sure to ask next time I see them around.

  3. Oh and I am not much of a foundation person but I'll have to try out the black opal foundation one day! The only thing I have from black opal right now is a raspberry bronzer that I haven't used as yet!

Revlon Sculpting Blush Palette in Pink

I have never been so disappointed in a Revlon product before… until now! Maybe I chose the wrong colour for my skin-tone but there are so many other things about this palette that makes me think I should have bought some more lip butters instead. Let’s start with what I do love about the palette. It’s simple black compact that has the same sleek look as the other Revlon photo-ready items. I find a highlighter, contour shade and blush in one palette is a great idea too. Having more blush colour in terms of quantity with smaller sections for the highlighter and contour makes perfect sense since I will use more of the blush anyway. The colours as they appear in the pan look perfectly coordinated to work with each other. You get a small brush with soft bristles in your kit to ensure you can just pop this in your bag and you’re off.  In the sunlight Now here is where it all goes downhill like Jack and Jill with their pail of water. Let’s start with the swatches which made me think twic

Marble Hearts: BCD Nail Art Challenge (Day 13)

Today's challenge utilizes the technique of dry water marbling to create your pattern. I'm doing a twist of it but doing a needle drag i.e using a needle or any fine point for just a smidgen of swirl to the colours used.
