So being the avid online shopper I decided to try my luck with Coastal Scents since this brand is growing in its popularity here in Trinidad . In particular their eye-shadow palettes have been popping up everywhere and so far I have only heard great things about them. (Me… jumping onto bandwagon)
The site itself is eye catching in design and easy to navigate. I had no problems signing up as a first time customer and inputting the standard information required to make my purchases. I love the fact that they allow customer reviews so you can hear the good, the bad and the ugly.
So instead of buying what we already have here I wanted to try out something new. Item number one in cart is their new Go Palette Cairo. I feel a bit daring now since there were no reviews on these yet but if they are made with the same quality like the popular large eye-shadow palettes then I shouldn’t have a problem right? We will review later!
Next hopper into my cart went the recently back in stock 22 piece brush set. I am totally in love with makeup brushes now, so I just had to get these! And I did hear many good things about their brushes based on the customer reviews on the website. Great deal for the price anyways!
At this point my eyes are going up and down, left and right reviewing item after item, after item. And my credit card is saying “What’s next already, Charge me”! So I caved in and ordered a passion berry lip quad. I really wanted to try out their gel eyeliners which come in a variety of colours but the customer reviews were a bit mixed on these so I passed until some other time.
At checkout, I didn’t know I had to pay Vat which was additional to the prices of the items but it wasn’t much so I just got over it. So order placed and then I go to check my email address and there is the notification of my order listing all 3 items above at the prices indicated on the site. BTW the value of my items was just slightly over US$50 so I got free shipping!
Now going back to the website and my account, the order is in there and the status reads processing. By the next day I log in again and now the status reads shipped! I’m impressed since I just choose the standard shipping method which is usually the slowest.
Now came the annoying part, the tracking number on my order is sent to me via email and it does show up on my coastal scents account also but after 6 days there is still no information on where is my package! I am a bit disappointed at that since I just love seeing my package move from place to place until it reaches my Miami Trinidad . Just for info, I did go back and recheck and the tracking number was still saying no information available.
So my package is received nicely packaged in a box (Priority Mail from the USPS). The brush roll is within a plastic wrap bag, the eye-shadow palette and lip quad is wrapped firstly in bubble wrap and then in paper. The lip quad is also in a cute green pull string bag with a lip brush. As gifts with my order I receive a cute baby kabuki brush as well as blush sample. Who doesn’t love free stuff!
So overall I was happy with the fact that everything I ordered arrived in good condition, pretty fast and with free samples. Coastal scents can expect my second order soon! Now on to try out my new stuff.
